KIND-HEARTED guests at a seasonal ball in aid of a children's charity partied away to help raise money for the good cause.

The Children's Adventure Farm Trust's Annual Ball managed to raise £150,000 for the charity that provides holiday breaks and activities for terminally ill, chronically sick, disabled and disadvantaged children.

More than 400 guests were treated to a winter wonderland at Mere Golf and Country Club and they dug deep into their pockets for a charity auction for prizes including a luxury break to Sri Lanka for eight people.

The event was attended by the charity's patrons Farokh Engineer and Paralympic gold medalist Sarah Bailey. Also there were ex-Coronation Street stars Lee Boardman, who played Jez Quigley and Jennifer James who played Geena Gregory.

Pippa Watton, events fundraiser, said: "This was a special night for us - our 10th annual ball, coming at the end of a year when we have helped more children than ever before.

"The amazing total of £150,000 was totally unexpected, but obviously extremely welcome. It will help us to bring love, fun and laughter into the lives of children in desperate need from all over our region."
