WINNERS of a top rugby competition, Lymm RFC, received a donation of £2,500 accepted by a former player and England superstar.
The selection panel, which included legends, Ieuan Evans, Andy Nicol, Jeremy Davidson and also representatives from the BBC and RBS, judged more than 1,000 rugby clubs across the country.
The £2,500 donation accepted by David Strettle, England superstar, will go towards a community project of their choice, with the Lymm grass roots sports appeal was chosen.
David Strettle commented: "I owe Lymm RFC so much for my career in rugby and I am proud and delighted that they won the RBS 6 nations part competition.
"They deserve it! The club runs the Lymm Grass Roots Sports Appeal which is all about creating a legacy for youth players. The donation will further strengthen their commitment to youth sport."
The prize also included a 42-inch flat screen television for the clubhouse, new sporting equipment and a party for 250 people held on March 17.
Club chairman, John Hopkinson, also added: "The £2,500 donation will go a long way to securing the future of grass roots rugby in Lymm and we are all hoping for a few more England stars like David Strettle."
